We don't always sit on our royals, there are times
when we help out in the community and help those in need
- Toys for Tots- Every year we support the Marine
Corps reserve Toys for Tots program, One of our marines is
the detachment representative and runs the whole show at a
designated site. Our Toys for Tots Chairmen were Tom bailey,
Frank Larison and Steve Dodd. These marines coordinated two
sites in 2007 and contributed to the collection and
distribution of toys and funds for toys for the metro-plex
area.
- VA Hospital Visit Once a month Howard
Naylor and a group of our Marines and ROTC students visit
the VA hospital patients and provide sugarless cookies and
drinks for the patients in the diabetic ward.
- Jr ROTC Program sponsor- Msgt Hugh West (retired)
is our ROTC Chairman and represents the detachment in all
ROTC activities. The ROTC program is an excellent program
that provides an education as well teaching tem work,
synergy as well as survival skills within the community. The
detachment recognizes outstanding ROTC students with a
plaque, certificate and metal for their annual achievement.
- Student Scholarships -
- The detachment has an annual scholarship program
and awards one annual scholarship to a deserving
student. This program is managed by the detachment
scholarship committee.
